Web Design
Worked as primary web designer for Elderhostel Inc. and Hostelling International's Eastern New England Council. Both companies were in the process of changing the look and feel of their websites to be more user-friendly, interactive, and up-to-date. This was done through the use of flash, css styles, and changing several features of the sites to allow users more ability to customize how they view information as search results. For specific examples see the Portfolio page. Currently working as a freelance web designer creating sites using Worpress as a CMS. Non-wordpress sites are checked using the W3C validator to ensure that they comply with XHTML 1.0 Strict standards and CSS level 2.1 standards.
Email Design
Created email marketing campaigns and newsletters using current industry best practices. Designs used tables and in-line styles and were tested across different email providers to ensure look and feel was maintained. Worked with marketing team to run variable tests to consumers to determine user-response to design and content. Used dynamic content to target markets and personalize content to user needs. Sent email using Constant Contact, Epsilon's Dream, and Cheetah. For specific examples see the Portfolio page.
Marketing and Communications
Developed strategic plans for increasing visibility of brand. Researched demographics of target markets and used social networking tools such as facebook and Twitter and other viral marketing tools. Researched use of viral videos and develped pitches for ideas for creating and using different styles of video marketing to get out message while keeping to a minimal budget. Researched fairs and festivals with connections to mission and vision of corporation to increase local visibility of brand.
Print Design
Experience negotiating prices with printers, creating logos and print materials ranging from business cards and annual reports to posters and banners. Experience working with copy-writers and editors in creation of print pieces as well as developing appropriate copy for different demographics including business-to-business educational materials, the Baby-Boomer generation, and young adults. Training
Can train small groups of people or provide one-on-one in-house training on a wide variety of software programs. Have tailored training sessions to meet needs of beginners to intermediate skill levels.
